Balancing Act

Taking care of a newborn can definitely be considered a balancing act. In our case this act is literal. And the funny part about it all is the baby loves it!

Lunch with Heather and new baby clothes

Yesterday me and my good friend Heather Stevens got to have a girls afternoon out. Well girls afternoon with babies lunch. This is actually a tradition we have been attempting to keep up since high school. Every few months we try to go to lunch together. It was easy when we both went to ASU now that we both have babies it is a little more difficult but totally worth the effort. Her little guy Guinness is about 6-7 months older than Jace so hopefully soon they will be able to play together and then we can do play dates too.

The best part about her baby being a little older than Jace is hand-me-downs! Heather generously gave me all the clothes that Guinness grew out of. So Jace now has more clothes than Steven and I combined but at least he looks dang cute!

Happy Birthday Steven!

Steven turned the big 25 this past week on July 6th and boy did we have fun celebrating. It is nice to have your birthday right around a holiday because you almost always get a long weekend for your birthday. Steven had friday off work so we didn't have to wait till sunday his actual birthday to start celebrating.

Steven got golf clubs from his Mom for his birthday. He figured it would be a good investment to learn how since it seems like everyone in the engineering world plays golf. Another reason was the head of his company asked him to play but he had to turn him down because he didn't know how. So off to the driving range we went to try the new clubs.

Happy Birthday Lindsey

July 3rd was my sister Lindsey's 26th birthday. Me and Lindsey, Steven and Diane all went to this quait little sandwich shop on Main street to celebrate. Then Steven and I took Lindsey shopping for a new outfit. She really needed something hip and since I am slowly becoming more fashion forward (Steven is teaching me) I decided to lend her a helping hand with picking out her outfit. I think we did pretty good Steven was there coaching us through it =) Happy Birthday Lindsey!

Working Woman

As of Yesterday I am officially a working mother. Actually now that I think about it all mothers are working mothers! In fact they work a lot harder during the day than most people do. The only difference is Mothers don't get to clock out at 5pm and go home and relax. They are always on the job 24/7 and they don't even get paid for it!

Well now I am a working mother that actually gets paid to work. I started back at my wonderful stay at home marketing job yesterday and so far so good. It is actually quite the tricky thing to work with a newborn I can only do my phone calls when he is asleep. Which doesn't leave much time during the day to work but as long as I get all my work done it shouldn't matter. I can send emails and arrange schedules when he is awake because no one will hear him on the other end of the phone screaming or just talking (something he really enjoys lately)

The best part is having more money. Things have been a little tight the last few months living on only one income when you are used to having 2 but we need to start saving for a house since we are going to buy one when Steven graduates in December. So we are going to try to live off one paycheck and save the other. Who knows how that will go seeing as how I have a uncanny ability for racking up medical bills. Oh well it was for a good cause. Having a baby is definately worth a few bills. Yay for Mindy working again!
