Hospital and Emergency Surgery

Usually I like to keep blog posts happy and interesting. This post is interesting but not that happy. Sunday morning unfortunately found us in the emergency room. I have been bleeding for a while now, as you should a little bit after having a baby, but every now and again I would have huge gushes of bright red blood that would leave me feeling dizzy and weak.

I didn't think too much of it the first few times it happened because some of the books I read said that was normal in the first few weeks. Well it didn't go away and Saturday morning I had another gush in which I lost a significant amount of blood that took me all day to recover from. Since this was Saturday and there are no doctor's office open, we decided to wait until Monday and make an appointment. I was so worried about it though that we decided, if it happened again we would go to urgent care.

Well Sunday morning it happened again and in we went. First going to urgent care and then they sent us to the ER so they could do an ultrasound to find out exactly what was going on. They discovered that I had some left over placenta that the idiot intern that delivered my baby didn't get out. So I had to have and emergency surgery called a D&C to remove the rest of it. I think they commonly use this surgery for women who have had miscarriages because the anesthesiologist thought I had miscarried.

Everything went well with the surgery and I even got to go home that night. The doctor told Steven that they found quite a bit so it was a really good thing we went in. Everything should be fine with me now and I have a check up in a few weeks with the really nice doctor that did my operation just to make sure. The worst part is I feel like I just had another baby and now have to recover all over again.

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers hopefully this should be over and I can finally get back to normal.

I had NO idea! You poor thing! Let me know if you need an extra pair of hands, I will be there in a flash! (I have a good deal of sick time available, and I need to use it...)
